As a young child, Liette Deschambault (nee Proulx) had a strong passion and love of horses. Liette would visit Grampa Smith's farm down the road and spend hours playing and riding an old Percheron called "Jim". Liette trained her first horse at age 13 which was a pinto shetland pony.
In 1976, the family moved to a dairy farm where Liette's dad, Robert fulfilled his dream of being a farmer. The farm was named Bob (for Robert) and T (for mom Therese) as registered Holsteins needed a pre-fix. Upon purchasing the farm, Liette's parents purchased three horses for the family to enjoy. Upon graduating from high school, Liette attended Meredith Manor in West Virginia where she studied dressage and headed west to work at EP Taylor's Windfield Farms in Oshawa. Soon an opportunity arose in 1981 for Liette to fulfill her dream of establishing a trail riding and equestrian centre at the family farm. Thus, Bob-T Trail Rides was created. For five years, Liette ran a 10 horse trail ride operation and established Bob-T Equestrian Center which involved boarding, lessons and training until 1999. In 1984, Liette and her mom purchased Catherine Miller's The Horsemen Shop and moved it to the farm where it was aptly named Bob-T Tack Shop. The business grew and in 1989, the store was moved to it's present location in Lancaster.. In 2010, Liette purchased the entire business from her mom and is now sole owner of Bob-T tack Shop ...where it is bursting at the seams! |
